COMPANY PROFILE
With a history that stretches back over 130 years, CNY
PROSTHETIC CENTER continues a tradition of personal and
individual attention to every patient. CNY PROSTHETIC
CENTER offers virtually every prosthetic component available, from
the most sophisticated computer controlled systems to state of the art socket
fitting systems and techniques. Our greatest strengths include our experience, a
world class educational program and most importantly, a serious commitment to
listening and responding to our patients. We measure our success by patient
satisfaction, and ours is second to none.
THE STAFF
JOHN TYO began his career in 1971 as a staff prosthetist. In 1976 John set up
Orthopedic Technologies, Inc. and, as president and CEO built OTI into the tenth
largest provider of prosthetic and orthotic services in the country, with
offices from Vermont to Colorado. After the sale of OTI and its various
branches and subsidiaries, John returned to his roots and reopened a private
practice devoted exclusively to the profession he loves, prosthetics, in the
area he loves, Central New York. John’s history includes past corporate membership in the American Orthotic and
Prosthetic Association as well as memberships in the National Rehabilitation
Association, Amputee Support Network and National Handicapped Sports, where he
was the corporate provider of services on the national level as well as a
consultant and volunteer on the community level. He has served as a director for the International Association of Orthotists and
Prosthetists. John is Chairman of the board for the CNY Challenged Champions
Fund and is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
John has letters of commendation from N.H.S., Americares and the U.S. Senate as
well as other national and community organizations.
GARY R. RIVERS JR. is a Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification –
Certified Prosthetist and brings a wealth of experience to CNY
PROSTHETIC CENTER. With over twenty years of experience, Gary has
served as a patient care facility manager and also successfully ran a large
central fabrication company which provided prosthetic and orthotic devices to a
number of patient care facilities nationally. Gary also serves on the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist
Certification exam writing committee.
SHEILA HARRINGTON has been involved in all aspects of financial
and administrative management since her entry into the medical field over
twenty years ago. She has specialized in the Orthotic and Prosthetic field
since 1986 and has extensive experience working with insurance companies and
third party payers on a local, regional and national basis. Her experience
coupled with her determination to provide the highest level of service to our
patients has proven invaluable in helping our patients bridge and understand the
complex world of financial reimbursement.
